Speed up Innovation with Design Thinking | Guido Stompff | TEDxVenlo
Innovation made simple, that is Guido's passion. Elements of design thinking are the core of his idea. In 2005 I attended a lecture delivered by a famous Dutch politician. To be honest, he made me angry,” Guido says. “He was explaining how difficult politics are, talking about the dilemmas he faces every day. But he did not present solutions. Not one. And not even a plan to get one.” In his anger Guido, a designer with many years of experience, suddenly understood he had an entirely different way of thinking. Designers always explore new ideas. Problems are challenges for their creativity. His anger became wonder. “I asked myself what makes design thinking so different. And above all what it might contribute to teams and companies. And even politics.” Together with the Technical University Delft he made movies of product development teams in the wild, and analyzed these with 7 researchers. They discovered how ideas arise in teams, captured the origins of innovation and revealed what designers contribute.” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. The Future of Education (Learning and Teaching)
The Future of Education https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXXiTL5lJs745itIIYYYolQ?sub_confirmation=1 The future of learning and teaching : Teaching Revolution Big changes ahead for teaching in real world education As the world we live in changes to embrace tech futures, how and what we teach in our education system will also be reshaped to keep up to date with the growing demands of the 21st century. Curriculum teaching and learning already extends well beyond the classroom and will continue to do so, and as education changes to suit the future’s needs, the role of a teacher must also adapt and grow. It is each teacher’s responsibility to empower students to take risks, be innovative and seize any opportunity thrown their way. In light of a shift towards a more personalised learner experience, teachers of the future must be prepared to be data collectors, as well as analysts, planners, collaborators, curriculum experts, synthesizers, problem-solvers and researchers. Let’s take a look at The future of learning and teaching

The Future of Learning
Education is reaching a tipping point as the gap widens between the skills delivered by the current system and those required by the digital economy, according to Goldman Sachs Research. This makes education ripe for disruption. “We think we’re right at the cusp of seeing the integration of technology significantly disrupt the way that education is delivered and the cost at which education can be provided,” Katherine Tait of Goldman Sachs Research explains in the latest episode of our series The Long & Short of It. Tait also discusses the changing nature of today’s workforce and the evolution to lifelong learning. “We think that as the rise in automation and technology in the workplace increases, it will also drive an increase in the need to re-skill and up-skill throughout one’s career, shifting that education spend from being so concentrated in the early years of someone’s life across the length of an individual’s career.” Learn More https://www.goldmansachs.com/insights/pages/future-of-learning-katherine-tait.html

Design Thinking Video from MIT & Altitude
MIT partnered with Altitude to create a video to explain what Design Thinking is, it’s value to companies who want to innovate and the process behind it. Design Thinking is growing in popularity and yet acceptance is still shrouded in mystery. MIT recognizes the need for a video that brings the process to light. The “Mobilizer” is used as an example here to help assist the elderly to walk. The next iteration could be an IoT solution outfitted with sensors and more, but this depends on what the consumer needs. Design Thinking is about putting the consumer (or user) at the hub to uncover what the consumer truly needs – and not what a company wants a consumer to need.

The Rise of Digital Platforms – Opportunities and Threats for UK and European Businesses Executive Briefing, February 2016, The Shard, London Businesses predominantly grow in one of two ways, either organically, focused on internal resources, or through mergers and acquisitions. There is a third way, which some call ‘leveraged growth’ – leveraging the resources and creativity of other people. BearingPoint thinks this is a new discipline for businesses, and they are calling it Digital Ecosystem Management. In this video, Prof Geoffrey Parker, Research Fellow, MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy, discusses platform businesses.
